Hello beautiful earthlings!
I've updated within two weeks so maybe it means that I'm doing good so far? Anyways, it has been a while since I last published an ESthetics post. So I have a review of a new subscription box that has entered the beauty industry called Ichiko Bento. Plus this is my first subscription box ever! You can read up on their history and it may pique your interest.
It is a monthly subscription "bento box" with two options: a classic bento which contains about 5 items per month and a deluxe box which contains about 5-7 items per month. Here are the breakdown of the prices:
- Classic Bento
- Month to Month - £14
- 3 Month Prepay - £41.50
- 12 Month Prepay - £162
- Deluxe Bento
- Month to Month - £26
- 3 Month Prepay - £77.50
- 12 Month Prepay - £309.50
I opted for the Classic 3 Month Prepay since I just wanted to get a feel for the box first at the lowest price and if I do end up liking it, then I can later decide for the deluxe or the commitment of paying for the 12 month prepay bento box.
Another thing that people may want to know is shipping fees. I paid for £17.40. It is a little steep to be honest since it is just from UK to Ireland. But then again that is 3 months worth of shipping. Shipping fees depend on the country where the box will be shipped to so just check out their site. I wish that those clients who opted for 3 month or 12 month prepay bento boxes would at least get shipping discounts.
Apparently, I received the package on 14 July but I was travelling at that time that I only managed to get my hands on it on the 18th. Ichiko Bento customers were notified that one of the item (Peripera lip tint) was going to be shipped separately which I arrived today 24 July in a bubble wrapped envelope.
The box had a little booklet of what items were inside the bento box plus a little note from Joanna - the founder of Ichiko Bento (her signature is the cutest!) For the classic July bento, I received 9 items. According to the website, all Classic Bento subscribers would have received 8 items. So we got one freebie! Yay! I always love a good freebie.
So here are the items in the Classic Bento box:
(left to right; back to front) 1, 2, 3, 4 |
(back to front) 9, 5 |
(left to right; back to front) 7, 6, 8 |
So I separated them between skincare, make-up and accessories/miscellaneous items. Here's my best attempt to get the prices for each of the item (from the most reliable websites that I can get to) so we can get a rough idea of how much value we are getting from the Classic Bento box.
- Pure Smile Peach Tea Point Oil Pads (Little Twin Stars) - $3.95
- Jayjun Baby Pure Shining Mask - $3.35
- Blossom Jeju Pink Lifting Mask - $6
- DHC Deep Cleansing Oil - $5.50 (This is the one that I am most excited about)
- Peripera Water Lip Tint - ₩7,000 (around $6.28)
- Miirushop Plush Headband - $8
- Livework Promenade Mini note - ₩1,300 (price found at the back of the notebook packaging and is around $1.17)
- Kao Steam Eye Mask - S$1.30 (around $0.95)
- Tony Moly Delight Tony Tint (free item and guys it is FULL SIZE!!!) - $6
With the subscription that I am on, I spend around £13.83 a month. If you add all the prices up excluding the free item, it sums up to $35.20 which is about £27.02. I saved £13.19 which is almost half of what the box is actually cost! This is definitely a pro.
So here are my thoughts
- So is this box worth it? Value wise yes, it is worth it.
- Without counting the full-sized freebie item, I basically received one make-up item that was part of the bento box. I wish there will be an even amount of make-up/skincare/miscellaneous items in the next box.
- Also, I hope that they would take into consideration of providing discounted shipping fee when opting for a 3/12 month bento box (especially that UK is just beside Ireland).
I'll be testing these products out and I will give you my thoughts on it on. I might just add it in the next post I do of Ichiko Bento's August box.
That is all for now and I will see you in the next post.
Peace and Love,
